A huge admirer of the player, the PIF chairman has instructed the club to turn down any bids, seeing Isak as a vital part of Newcastle’s long-term project to compete consistently at the top level — especially after their Carabao Cup success.
This firm position fits with Newcastle’s ambition to become a major force in English football. Isak himself hasn’t given any signals that he wants to move, which further strengthens the club’s ability to retain him — unless he submits a transfer request.
While missing out on Champions League football could complicate matters, Newcastle are currently in the race for a top-five finish, which would go a long way in persuading Isak to stay at St. James’ Park for at least another season.
