Liverpool officially secured the Premier League title on Sunday, sparking celebrations among their fans. Messages of congratulations flooded in for the 20-time English champions, including from a familiar rival over the past decade.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool often finished second to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but this season, they came out on top, besting City and the rest of the league. Their success did not go unnoticed by Guardiola, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.

Pep Guardiola congratulates Liverpool on Premier League success

Speaking during his post-match press conference (via *The Mirror*) following Manchester City’s 2-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Nottingham Forest at Wembley, Guardiola praised Liverpool’s accomplishment and expressed hope that his side would mount a stronger challenge next season.

“Before I say anything else, on behalf of myself and the club, I want to congratulate Liverpool on winning the Premier League. It’s a fully deserved achievement, no question.

“They’re an incredible team. They’ll hold onto the title for a year, and hopefully next season we’ll be stronger and able to compete to the very end, something we couldn’t manage this time. Congratulations to Liverpool.”

It’s been a challenging campaign for Manchester City, but a potential FA Cup victory over Crystal Palace next month could bring some redemption.

With major squad changes expected this summer, City will be looking to bounce back and return to title contention in the seasons ahead.

In the meantime, their immediate focus remains on securing a top-five Premier League finish to guarantee Champions League football next season.
