Liverpool Reportedly Submit £37 Million Bid for Gilberto Mora

Liverpool have reportedly taken a major step in their pursuit of Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora, with reports claiming that the Reds have submitted an offer worth more than £37 million for the teenage midfielder.

According to reports from Mexico, Liverpool’s proposal was presented to Club Tijuana through Mora’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta. Mexican journalist David Faitelson claims the offer is worth more than $50 million, which would make it one of the biggest transfers in Mexican football history. (Sport Witness)

However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the identity of the club behind the most advanced proposal. ESPN Mexico has reportedly confirmed that several formal offers have reached Tijuana, with one believed to have progressed significantly, but the outlet has not publicly identified Liverpool as the club responsible for that particular offer. Liverpool’s interest in Mora is not new.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been attracting attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs after making a huge impression for both Club Tijuana and Mexico.

Liverpool have already made direct contact with Mora’s representatives, with TEAMtalk reporting that the Reds are currently among the leading Premier League contenders for his signature. Borussia Dortmund and Benfica are also reported to have held preliminary discussions with his camp, while Real Madrid and Barcelona continue to monitor his situation. (Liverpool FC)

Mora’s rise has been remarkable.

Despite his young age, he has already played senior football for Tijuana and became the youngest Mexican player to appear at a World Cup. His performances have made him one of the most talked-about young attacking midfielders in the game.

Liverpool appear to see an opportunity to secure his services before his value potentially rises even further.

There is also a significant timing issue. Mora turns 18 on October 14, meaning the restrictions surrounding an international transfer will no longer prevent a move to Europe once he reaches that age. (This Is Anfield)

If the reported £37 million offer is genuine, Liverpool would be making a major financial commitment to a player who has not yet played European club football.

But that also explains why the deal could be so exciting for the Reds.

Liverpool have increasingly invested in young players with significant potential, while continuing to strengthen their senior squad. Mora would fit that long-term strategy perfectly: a highly rated teenager with senior international experience who could be developed into a major first-team player.

The competition will not be easy.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and other European clubs have all reportedly shown interest in Mora. (This Is Anfield)

For now, the biggest question is whether Liverpool’s reported offer will be enough to convince Tijuana to sell.

If the reports are accurate, the Reds are no longer simply watching Gilberto Mora from a distance. They may have already placed a huge offer on the table.

And with Mora’s 18th birthday approaching, this could become one of the most important young-player transfer battles of the coming months.
