Liverpool Could Lose Four Star Attackers—Is a £100M Move for Julian Alvarez the Solution?

Liverpool may be on the verge of a major attacking overhaul, with reports linking Darwin Núñez, Diogo Jota, Luis Díaz, and Mohamed Salah with potential summer exits.

If all four depart, new manager Arne Slot would be left with only Cody Gakpo as a proven attacking option, forcing the club to invest heavily in reinforcements.

Julian Alvarez on Liverpool’s Radar

According to *Anfield Watch*, Liverpool have identified Atlético Madrid’s Julian Alvarez as a top target for the summer transfer window.

The Argentine forward, who joined Atlético last year for £89 million from Manchester City, has been in sensational form under Diego Simeone, registering 22 goals and five assists ahead of their La Liga clash with Barcelona.

While Atlético are keen to keep Alvarez, reports suggest Liverpool would need to bid over £100 million to secure his signature.

However, Alvarez is seen as an alternative to Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, whose potential transfer could cost as much as £150 million.

Is Isak a Better Option?

Alvarez is undoubtedly a top-class talent, especially given his impressive numbers in Simeone’s defensive setup. However, some believe Isak would be a better fit for Liverpool’s system due to his Premier League experience and playmaking ability.

If Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League, they may be forced to sell key players to balance their finances, potentially making Isak available at a reduced price. At just five months older than Alvarez, he would still represent a long-term investment for the Reds.

Physically, Isak also appears more suited to Arne Slot’s high-intensity, pressing style of play. His ability to hold up the ball and create chances for teammates could complement Gakpo perfectly, whereas Alvarez thrives more on service inside the box.

Who Should Liverpool Sign?

With uncertainty surrounding their attack, Liverpool must carefully consider their next move. Should they break the bank for Alvarez, or wait to see if Isak becomes a more affordable option? One thing is clear—major changes are coming at Anfield.
