Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed the unfortunate news that Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss this weekend’s Carabao Cup final due to injury.

The England international was forced off during Liverpool’s midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield, and concerns immediately arose about his availability for the clash against Newcastle United.

While the Reds remain favorites heading into Sunday’s Wembley showdown, Slot would undoubtedly have preferred to have one of his key players fit and available.

Arne Slot on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Injury

As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Slot has confirmed that although Alexander-Arnold will miss the final, he is expected to return before the end of the season.

However, this injury comes at a critical time for the 26-year-old, whose Liverpool future remains uncertain. With his contract set to expire this summer, Alexander-Arnold could be approaching the final games of his career at Anfield unless he agrees to a new deal.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that Slot’s optimism is justified and that the right-back can make a comeback before the season concludes.

If all goes well, Alexander-Arnold could at least sign off with a Premier League winners’ medal before potentially moving on.
