Arne Slot has confirmed that a Liverpool player has suffered an injury setback while speaking to the press on Friday morning.

The Reds’ head coach addressed the media ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Plymouth Argyle, stating that he intends to give opportunities to certain players who have seen limited game time this season.

One such player could have been Tyler Morton, but the midfielder will miss the game after sustaining an injury.

Slot Confirms Tyler Morton’s Injury

Slot revealed the 22-year-old’s setback while discussing James McConnell, who is now likely to benefit from his teammate’s absence.

Speaking to the *Liverpool Echo*, the Liverpool manager explained: *”Tyler Morton is out with an injury for a while, so that means he was maybe our sixth midfielder, and James is taking that position now.”*

When asked for details on the injury, Slot responded: *”Am I allowed to say? It’s his shoulder. Four weeks or longer.”*

Injury Comes at a Difficult Time for Morton

Morton’s injury is particularly unfortunate, as he was a strong candidate to start against Plymouth on Sunday.

Additionally, with Liverpool’s fixture against Aston Villa now rescheduled for 19 February due to their Carabao Cup final qualification, the team faces five Premier League matches within a 15-day period.

With such a congested schedule and the possibility of further injuries in midfield, Slot would have hoped to rely on Morton’s availability over the coming weeks.

As things stand, the earliest the midfielder could return is the home fixture against Southampton on 8 March, just ahead of the Carabao Cup final.

We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon, with Slot’s comments highlighting his importance to the squad.

Despite heavy speculation, Liverpool have opted not to move forward with a potential £85 million deal for Alexander Isak. Instead, the club has shifted its transfer focus and funds toward other priority targets who are considered more suited to Arne Slot’s tactical plans.

“I’m ready to sign for Liverpool immediately if he’s no longer in the squad. Once that condition is met, I’d be happy to make the move to Anfield” – those are the words of top defensive target Marc Guehi, who has made it clear he’s open to joining Liverpool, but only on one condition: the departure of a key current Reds player.
