Liverpool’s hopes of strengthening their defense with Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo have been officially dashed.

The Reds had reportedly shown interest in the 22-year-old Brazilian, but his new long-term contract likely places him beyond their financial reach.

Nottingham Forest confirmed the deal, which runs until 2029, via an official announcement shared by journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Liverpool’s defensive options, including Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Jarell Quansah, remain strong.

However, with Van Dijk’s unresolved contract situation looming large, the club could face a critical need for reinforcements this summer.

Letting Van Dijk leave, especially with alternatives like Murillo now unavailable, would create significant challenges for the club.

While Liverpool’s commitment to sustainable wages is admirable, balancing this with their ability to attract and retain top talent is vital to ensuring long-term success.
