Since joining Liverpool in the summer to succeed Jurgen Klopp, Arne Slot has made a major impact, quickly taking the Reds to the top of the Premier League and strengthening the team even further compared to last season.
With Liverpool now positioned as strong contenders for the league title alongside Manchester City and Arsenal, Slot has not only improved the overall team but also enhanced individual player performance.
According to Football Insider, Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu is eager to join Liverpool to work under Slot, who previously coached him at Feyenoord, where Kokcu delivered some of his best performances.
After missing out on signing Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in the summer, Slot is expected to pursue a midfield addition next year, with Kokcu emerging as a potential target.
The Reds need a new number 6, and Kokcu’s interest in moving from Benfica to Liverpool aligns with this need. However, with four years left on his contract at Benfica, a high transfer fee would be required to bring him to Anfield.
Fortunately, Liverpool is in a strong financial position, having spent conservatively in the summer. Slot already has a good working relationship with Kokcu, which would ease the transition for the Turkish midfielder if he joined.
Additionally, Liverpool may need to consider a replacement for Virgil van Dijk at the end of the season, with Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera on their radar. However, they could face competition from Arsenal in pursuing the defender.
