The latest FIFA men’s world rankings have been published, showing England’s current position. Despite recent team changes, including the appointment of a new head coach, the Three Lions remain in the same spot.

England recently confirmed Thomas Tuchel as their new permanent manager. Tuchel, a prominent figure in football, has previously led major clubs like Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund.

In his first press conference as England’s head coach, Tuchel emphasized the importance of the role.

“I quickly realized it’s a significant job. Every job feels like the biggest one when you’re in it, and this one certainly feels huge and like a privilege,” he remarked.

Known for his enthusiasm and passion for the game, Tuchel also expressed excitement about leading England. “It’s obvious I’m very emotional. I love football and am passionate about it.

This role has reignited the young me, reminding me of my teenage years as a football fan. It’s a big task, but one I’m eager to tackle,” he said.

Tuchel reassured fans that England will approach every match with heart and commitment under his leadership, stating, “You can be sure we’ll bring passion and emotion. We’ll aim to establish values, principles, and rules quickly to turn the dream into reality.”

In their recent UEFA Nations League matches, England had mixed results, losing to Greece but defeating Finland.

Despite these outcomes, the new FIFA rankings place England fourth, behind Spain, France, and world champions Argentina.

Brazil, Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands, Italy, and Colombia complete the top 10, with Germany just outside in 11th place.

Among the ranking shifts, Comoros made the biggest leap, rising 10 places to 108th, while Tunisia had the sharpest drop, falling 11 spots to 47th. Botswana gained the most points, adding 38.3, while Cape Verde lost the same number.

Looking ahead, England will play crucial UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland next month, which will be interim manager Lee Carsley’s final games before Tuchel officially takes over in January 2025.

Tuchel will prepare for his first competitive matches in March, as England looks to build on their current ranking and push for future success.
