Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that Diogo Jota is a doubt for their upcoming Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
Liverpool recently secured a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones, who received high praise from Gary Neville.
Despite the win, which kept Liverpool at the top of the league with 21 points from 24 this season, Jota was forced off due to injury in the first half and replaced by Darwin Nunez.
Slot has now provided an update on Jota’s condition, suggesting he is unlikely to be available for the midweek clash against Leipzig.
“Diogo had to be substituted, and I’m not sure what the issue is, but I’d be surprised if he’s ready for Wednesday,” Slot said, as reported by GOAL.
Jota has been in strong form for Liverpool under Slot’s management, scoring four goals this season, only behind Salah and Luis Diaz.
With a tough schedule ahead, including matches against Arsenal and Brighton, Jota’s absence could be a significant blow. Nunez is expected to step in as Liverpool navigates this challenging run of fixtures.
Slot has made an impressive start to his managerial career at Anfield, turning Liverpool into title contenders after Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
His passionate reactions, particularly during the Chelsea match, have attracted significant attention.
