There’s a strong chance that Manchester City may not emerge unscathed from their legal battle, much to the anticipation of Liverpool and other Premier League fans.

Currently leading the English Premier League but sitting 19th in the Champions League standings after a draw with Inter Milan, City faces 130 charges related to breaches of Financial Fair Play rules (as reported by Liverpool Echo). If found guilty of financial misconduct, potential punishments, including relegation, could be on the table.

It’s no surprise, then, that Sami Mokbel from the Daily Mail reported that agents representing City’s top players are already exploring options to safeguard their clients.

Mokbel wrote: “If City are found guilty of the most serious charges, the Premier League could impose sanctions leading to the champions losing their top-flight status. Agents are preparing for every possibility to ensure their players are protected.”

Should Manchester City face relegation, players’ loyalty would undoubtedly be tested, and the club’s wage structure would come under scrutiny.

Rivals like Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United could see this as an opportunity to acquire top talent from the potentially relegated side.

The question remains whether Pep Guardiola’s team has solid proof of their innocence. Until then, agents are planning, and players – along with the rest of the Premier League – are watching closely.

In other news, an ESPN pundit has raised concerns about Luis Diaz’s mental health following Liverpool’s win over AC Milan.
