Former Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane has finally addressed the media regarding rumors linking him to the Manchester United manager role, should Erik ten Hag be dismissed following the international break.

Zinedine Zidane has previously explained why he wouldn’t be interested in taking the Manchester United job, as pressure continues to build on Erik ten Hag.

After two losses in three Premier League matches, including a heavy 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, the 54-year-old Ten Hag is facing intense scrutiny.

Zidane, who has been out of a managerial role since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, has been linked with the Manchester United position several times over the years.

However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s chances of convincing Zidane to come to Manchester likely depend on whether the Frenchman has changed his stance on managing in England.

In 2021, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s exit, Zidane was considered for the United job, but he declined.

In an interview with L’Equipe, Zidane explained that the language barrier would make it difficult for him to work in the UK. He said, “I understand English, but I don’t fully master it.

I know some coaches go to clubs without speaking the language, but I have a different approach. Many factors come into play when it comes to winning, and I know what I need to succeed.”

It’s unclear if Zidane’s English has improved since, but if not, Ratcliffe may have to remove him from consideration.

Despite this, reports from France earlier this year suggested Zidane had shown interest in the United job, though this was before Ten Hag extended his contract.

Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea manager, was also in discussions with United after his departure from Bayern Munich last season.

A deal was reportedly close, but United ultimately chose to stick with Ten Hag, despite rumors that Tuchel was dissatisfied with their transfer approach.
