Fabrizio Romano took to social media on Wednesday evening to announce the completion of a long-awaited Liverpool transfer.
Two months after initially reporting that the Reds had agreed to sign highly-rated Chelsea teenager Rio Ngumoha, it now appears the deal has been finalized.
Romano shared on X: “Liverpool complete Premier League 5-step investigation process for Rio Ngumoha to join the club, confirmed.
The 2008-born talent agreed to the move after leaving Chelsea, as exclusively revealed in June. Done, completed.”
The extensive bureaucratic process behind the transfer made it a lengthy affair, but with the Premier League’s registration procedure now completed, Liverpool have secured the young player.
Ngumoha, just 16 years old, has already been hailed as a significant signing, with journalist Bence Bocsak describing it as a “huge coup,” and The Athletic’s James Pearce praising the teenager’s abilities.
As a young prospect, Ngumoha will begin his journey in Liverpool’s academy, but with examples like Trey Nyoni, Jayden Danns, and Conor Bradley moving into the first team after impressing at youth levels, he has a clear pathway to senior football.
