The new season hasn’t even started, and Liverpool is already dealing with the all-too-familiar problem of injuries disrupting their plans.

Jurgen Klopp’s final year at Anfield was plagued by injuries to key players, a trend that seems to be continuing for the club. This time, it’s young talent Jayden Danns who has been hit with bad luck.

According to Liverpool insider David Lynch in his Substack column, the 18-year-old forward has been sidelined until October due to a back injury.

This setback not only caused him to miss Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the United States but also disrupted the club’s plans to loan him out for the 2024/25 campaign.

The injury comes at a particularly bad time for Danns. He missed the chance to impress new manager Arne Slot during pre-season, an opportunity that could have significantly boosted his prospects for the upcoming season.

Earlier this year, Danns made a notable impact when he was called up to Liverpool’s senior squad amid an injury crisis, making a memorable debut by featuring in the Carabao Cup final and scoring twice in an FA Cup win over Southampton. His performance indicated he was ready for more.

Had he been fit, Danns would likely have seen significant playing time during the U.S. tour, with Slot eager to evaluate the club’s young talents.

Instead, the teenager is left to lament his misfortune, knowing that this injury has cost him a crucial stage in his development.

For now, the priority is recovery. If all goes well, there’s hope that by the winter transfer window, Danns can secure a loan move that will give him the playing time he needs to continue his promising progress at Liverpool.
