Premier League club set to face a seven-point deduction before the new season.

According to the latest analysis from Football Insider, newly promoted Leicester City is set to lose seven points in the upcoming campaign.

This penalty stems from Leicester’s violation of the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) last season, which ensure teams operate within their financial means.

Leicester argued that their relegation to the Championship should exempt them from these fines since they weren’t in the Premier League when they filed their accounts.

However, an independent panel rejected their appeal and upheld the charges.

The commission’s decision could significantly handicap Leicester at the start of the Premier League season, potentially costing them six or seven points.

This penalty would put them in a tough position as they strive to maintain their top-tier status.

The PSR regulations have already impacted several Premier League teams, enforcing caution in their summer transfer activities.

Nottingham Forest and Everton faced similar point deductions for financial infractions last season, highlighting the strict enforcement of these rules.

This setback comes at a crucial time for Leicester, who recently appointed Steve Cooper as their new manager.

Cooper replaced Enzo Maresca, who led the Foxes to promotion and subsequently joined Chelsea to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Starting the season with a significant points deduction will be a daunting challenge for Cooper and his team.

They must remain competitive in the Premier League while managing this difficult situation.
