A recent report suggests that Luke Shaw’s chances of participating in Euro 2024 are in jeopardy as Manchester United fears he might miss the remainder of the 2023/24 season due to a leg injury.
The English international endured a separate thigh issue earlier in the campaign, sidelining him for over three months. Despite returning in late November, another muscle problem forced him out for an additional month.
Shaw featured in United’s last four Premier League matches after his comeback in the 4-2 FA Cup victory against Newport County in late January. However, according to the Daily Mail, his recent appearance has exacerbated his injury.
The 28-year-old was substituted at half-time during the 2-1 triumph against Aston Villa and was withdrawn shortly before half-time in the win over Luton Town.
The Mail reports that he is expected to miss the rest of the 2023/24 season, leaving United manager Erik ten Hag searching for alternatives at left-back.
Tyrell Malacia has been sidelined for the entire season due to a knee problem but is nearing a return to the first-team squad after undergoing a second surgery during rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot has occasionally filled in at left-back, and Sergio Reguilon’s loan spell at Old Trafford was cut short in January. Additionally, Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Sofyan Amrabat have provided cover in that position.
United’s injury concerns extend beyond Shaw, with central defender Lisandro Martinez sidelined until April with a knee injury, and Anthony Martial and Mason Mount expected to return next month.
