Jadon Sancho might return to Manchester United, subject to specific conditions.

During his initial tenure at Borussia Dortmund from 2017 to 2021, Jadon Sancho established himself as one of Europe’s top wingers. However, a fallout with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United resulted in his exclusion and subsequent return to Germany on a temporary basis last month.

Sancho has expressed his affection for Dortmund, describing his comeback as a sense of “home,” a feeling that lingered during his time at United.

However, his stay may be short-lived, as Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, acknowledged financial constraints that could hinder a permanent deal for Sancho, similar to the situation with on-loan Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen.

Kehl openly admitted to Sky Sport Germany that financial limitations make securing permanent deals for both Sancho and Maatsen impractical. This reality is underscored by the substantial fee Dortmund received for Sancho’s transfer to England, making permanent transfers difficult to negotiate.

While Dortmund pushed for a permanent option for Sancho, the negotiation dynamics did not favor their desires, and they must accept the current circumstances.

United chose not to include a purchase option in the loan agreement, potentially banking on Sancho rediscovering his form at Dortmund, which could boost his market value.

This strategic approach mirrors previous loan deals, such as Alexis Sanchez’s move to Inter Milan in 2019.

Despite his limited playing time at United since August, Sancho has quickly amassed more Bundesliga minutes in three weeks than Premier League minutes in five months.

Notably, he made immediate impacts with assists in his initial two appearances for Dortmund against Darmstadt and Koln, though he missed the subsequent match against Heidenheim due to injury.

In light of these developments, Sancho’s loan stint at Dortmund offers an opportunity for both player and club to reignite their synergy on the pitch.

While uncertainties surround his long-term prospects, his impactful start suggests he could play a crucial role in Dortmund’s season, potentially leading to a significant increase in his market value.

As the season progresses, Sancho’s performances will be closely watched by both Dortmund and Manchester United, with the potential for his value to experience a notable upswing if he continues to excel in the Bundesliga.
