Liverpool has commenced discussions about potentially ending the contract of one of their forwards, but the final verdict on the player’s future remains undecided, according to a dependable source.

The Reds possess a strong contingent of forwards, featuring the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota. Harvey Elliott, showing considerable promise, often finds himself in midfield due to Jurgen Klopp’s surplus of attacking choices, typically assuming the right-wing position when Salah is rested.

Ben Doak has been given opportunities to exhibit his abilities in the Europa League, leading Liverpool to loan out Fabio Carvalho during the summer. Despite Carvalho’s prior role as a No 10 at Fulham, adapting to Klopp’s 4-3-3 system proved challenging.

Although Klopp and Liverpool highly value Carvalho, who joined the club in 2022 after an initial failed attempt, the young player had limited appearances in his first season at Anfield. His loan to RB Leipzig, beginning on June 30, was anticipated to provide valuable developmental opportunities, yet Carvalho has faced frustrations, accumulating a mere 257 minutes of playing time.

Despite the loan initially set for the entire season, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggests Liverpool’s readiness to terminate the agreement due to Carvalho’s ongoing lack of game time and subsequent dissatisfaction.
