Due to uncontrollable circumstances, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion purchase of a 25% stake in Manchester United has been delayed for several weeks.

Additionally, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani’s fears of a takeover could linger until the Glazer family’s agreement is approved, which may not happen this year.

Over a year ago, the Glazers announced their strategic review, sparking an extended takeover narrative involving Sir Jim and Sheikh Jassim.

When Sheikh Jassim discovered that Joel and Avram Glazer had no intention of selling, he withdrew his £5 billion bid for the complete purchase in October.

Presently, Sir Jim appears to be the leading contender to strike a deal that would keep the Glazer siblings’ significant stake while granting INEOS control over sports.

However, delays have persisted, likely causing frustration for the 71-year-old founder of the major petrochemicals company, who was named the preferred bidder.

Reportedly, unresolved legal matters might prevent his certified ownership of a 25% stake in Old Trafford until the following year.

Despite these setbacks, both parties remain committed to the investment and aim to finalize the deal promptly.

Nonetheless, the potential return of Sheikh Jassim remains as long as Sir Jim fails to secure a position at his beloved club.

Rumors suggest that the Qatari banker, a devoted Manchester United fan, may consider investing in other football projects, even if it’s not at his dream club.

Sheikh Jassim is reportedly considering negotiations to invest in Serie A giant Inter Milan, according to La Repubblica, especially with the club’s owner currently entangled in legal issues and debts to Oaktree, an American company, amounting to £340 million.

The San Siro stadium could benefit from Sheikh Jassim’s wealth, potentially demonstrating to Manchester United the possibilities they missed.

Given the Glazers’ proactive approach in seizing investment opportunities, Sir Jim’s anticipation for a minority ownership in the Red Devils is likely to prolong.

It is anticipated that by the following summer, the billionaire from Failsworth will ascend to the helm at Old Trafford, assuming control of the football operations.
